My kids love donuts—and let’s be honest, so do I! After searching high and low for the perfect eggless donut recipe, I finally nailed it! These vegetarian donuts are soft, fluffy, and super easy to make. In fact, my little daughters helped with most of the recipe—yes, it’s that simple and fun!

Ingredients
  

For Kneading Dough:

  • 2 cup Maida मैदा
  • 3/4 cup Milk दूध
  • 1/4 cup Butter बटर
  • 2 tbsp Sugar चीनी
  • 1 tsp dried Active yeast इस्ट / खमीर
  • 1/2 tsp Salt to taste नमक
  • Oil for frying (तेल)

For Glazing/Decorating Donuts:

  • 1/4 cup Powdered Sugar चीनी
  • 100 grams Brown Chocolate डार्क चोकोलेट
  • 100 grams White Chocolate सफेद चोकोलेट

Instructions
 

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  • Warm the milk and melt the butter slightly.
    3/4 cup Milk, 1/4 cup Butter
  • In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and butter.
    2 cup Maida, 2 tbsp Sugar, 1/2 tsp Salt to taste, 1/4 cup Butter
  • Activate the yeast: Mix the yeast in lukewarm water, set aside for 5–10 mins until bubbly.
    1 tsp dried Active yeast
  • Add activated yeast to the flour mixture.
  • Use lukewarm milk to knead a soft dough.
    3/4 cup Milk
  • Knead for 5–7 minutes till the dough is smooth and elastic.

Step 2: Shape the Donuts

  • Dust a surface with flour and roll out the dough to ½–¾ cm thickness.
  • Cut out donuts using a glass or cutter, and use a bottle cap to make center holes.
  • Place on a tray and brush lightly with oil to prevent drying.
  • Cover with a muslin cloth and let them rest for 2 hours, or until doubled.
  • Pro tip: You can place them in a pre-warmed oven (turned off) to help them rise faster.

Step 3: Fry the Donuts

  • Heat oil on low to medium flame.
    Oil
  • Gently fry each donut until golden brown on both sides.
  • Drain on absorbent paper and let cool slightly.
  • Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
    1/4 cup Powdered Sugar

How to Glaze & Decorate Donuts

  • Melt white and dark chocolate using a double boiler:
  • Heat water in a pot and place another bowl with chopped chocolate on top.
    100 grams White Chocolate, 100 grams Brown Chocolate
  • Stir until melted and smooth.
  • Dip half of the donuts in dark chocolate and the rest in white chocolate.
  • Use piping cones to create patterns (dark on white, white on dark).
  • Be creative! Decorate with fruit jam, sprinkles, or coconut flakes.
  • Let the glaze set for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For melting chocolates,
  1. Heat water in any utensil and place the second utensil with crushed chocolate on top of it.
  2. Cook on medium flame until chocolate gets pouring consistency. Keep stirring every 1-2 minutes.
  3. After chocolate melts completely take it off from the flame, let it get frigid and then bring in use.
